What is arXiv?
arXiv is a free, open-access repository of electronic preprints and post-prints, primarily covering physics, mathematics, computer science, and other quantitative disciplines. Founded in 1991 and now hosted by Cornell University Library, it lets researchers share manuscripts ahead of formal peer review to accelerate dissemination. The archive contains more than 2.5 million submissions and receives over 200,000 new papers each year. arXiv has become essential infrastructure for fast-moving research communities, especially in physics, AI, and mathematics.
